Ingredients

  • 2 cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon of Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of Baking Powder
  • 2 teaspoons of Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon of Kosher Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper optional
  • 1 cup of Buttermilk
  • ½ cup of Unsalted Butter melted
  • 1 ½ cups of Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

For the Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons of Unsalted Butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon of Fresh Parsley Leaves finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon of Garlic Powder

Instructions

  • Initial Preparation: Begin by preheating the oven to a temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Proceed to line a baking sheet with either parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set this aside for later use.
  • Combining Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, and cayenne pepper (if opting to include it). Ensure these ingredients are well mixed for uniform flavor distribution.
  • Incorporating Wet Ingredients: In a separate container, preferably a large glass measuring cup, whisk together the buttermilk and melted butter. Gently pour this liquid mixture over the previously prepared dry ingredients. Using a rubber spatula, stir the mixture just until the ingredients are moistened. Following this, carefully fold in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  • Forming the Biscuits: Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough gently 3-4 times until it forms a cohesive mass. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out into a rectangle approximately 1 1/4 inches in thickness. Utilize a 2 1/2-inch biscuit or cookie cutter to cut out 10-12 rounds from the rolled dough.
  • Baking Process: Place the formed dough rounds onto the previously prepared baking sheet. Insert the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for a duration of 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits achieve a golden brown coloration.

For the Topping:

  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, finely chopped fresh parsley leaves, and garlic powder, whisking them together until well blended. Upon removal of the biscuits from the oven, immediately brush the tops of each biscuit with the prepared butter mixture.
  • Serving: Serve the biscuits promptly while they are still warm and fresh.
