Ingredients:

3 and 1/2 cups bread flour, spooned and leveled

1 and 1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup butter, cubed

1/2 cup sugar

2 tablespoons of yeast

2 eggs

2 raisins

2 egg yolks, separated into 2 bowls

red food coloring

Methods:

In  bowl or stand mixer, blend 2 c of bread flour & salt.In glass measure cup, heat milk, water, & butter to 120°-130° in microwave ) (Heat mixture until butter is partially melted, then stir until melted the rest of the way.

Do not add liquid to yeast mixture until it feels comfortably warm. with your finger, but not hot.)Add sugar and yeast to the liquid.

If you are confident that the yeast is not dead, move on to the next step. Otherwise, waiting 5 min to see if it begin to foam.

add liquid to dry ingredients; Beat just until damp. Beat in 2 eggs until smooth.Stirring in enough of rest flour to form dough. The dough should come together as a ball, but it’s okay if it sticks a little.

Adding flour so you can handle dough without make a big mess on your hand.Turn it over on a floured surface. Kneading to smooth also elastic, for 6-8 min .

(Or beat with a dough hook for 6-8 minutes.)Place it in a greased bowl, flipping once to the top. Put it under the hat and tuck the edges under the base dough.Using scissors, cut two slits for the eyes; Insert the raisins into the slits.In separate small bowls, whisk each egg yolk. Brush the yolks on the parts of the dough that will not be red. add red food coloring to one yolk; Carefully comb over hat, nose and cheeks. (You have to do the regular egg yolk first or else the color will turn.)Cover loosely with foil and coated with non-stick spray. Try to avoid letting the foil touch the bread, you don’t want to tear the bread.Let the dough rise another half hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. reveal; Bake for 5-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. takes pictures. Bask in admiration who sees it.
