Be careful: these things are so addictive!
When it comes to desserts, it’s easy to get wrapped up in big baking projects that take up the whole afternoon. What with making homemade pie crust, to spending hours decorating cookies, it can be a great family activity, but it can also just be a lot of work! Don’t get us wrong, we love devoting time to cooking projects like that every once in a while, but we also rely on other dessert recipes that come together in a pinch and that pack a flavorful punch – like these simple (but delicious) candied nuts!
Serves 6-8
30 minutes
INGREDIENTS
2 cups almonds
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon cinnamon
sea salt, optional
PREPARATION
In a large saucepan over medium heat, stir together water, sugar and cinnamon, and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, stir in almonds and cook, stirring frequently, until mixture thickens and becomes syrupy.
Remove from heat and transfer nuts to a parchment-lined baking sheet, spreading them out into an even layer.
If desired, sprinkle with sea salt and let harden.
Serve and enjoy!
